Maybe the nail merely pins you like a butterfly displaying your beauty while the knife mars it instead?

Oh, I don't know. It really depends on how you set it up. If the context is right, a sacrifice could be quite meaningful. A young girl sacrificed for the prosperity and fertility of the village and the tribe, perhaps.
