Barb's gone to sleep, Wragg's woken up, so the Brit's are back! :)

So, what on earth is Cx up to? Where is she taking us? More importantly, where is she taking Barb?

Cx, cycling Queen of Colorado, might not be taking part in the Tour de France but she's taking us on a Tour de Force, and I for one am loving it!

I must get my bike out, if cycling's so good for the imagination!!! :D

Leave Wragg out of this.....it's an American affair, and the Brits are such meddlers (not too mention thread hijackers and hogs). And stop whimpering.... if you want more to eat, beg properly.

I looked at this post, I looked, with some incredulity, at it's author, and I thought

Fifth of July today, chaps, our day for celebrating getting shot of that troublesome lot over the pond!

aww now you are just purposely trying to make me blush.... I am going to go for my own little tour de writing though and try to post a chapter everyday so the mob doesn't riot! Something the British learned never learned to do effectively I might add... Then again us Yankees might just be natural troublemakers/ingrates...

Great and tense writing, cx. Brilliant writing. Now like the others said, get on with the next section.

Btw I think the same might apply to our Barb, who promised the continuation of her Bazaar story several days ago .....!

He reminds me:rolleyes:. It's a weekend project....coming soon.

But can we really trust the Dutch?

... Rule Britannia. Great tune but the words are nonsense.

I am going to take issue with that statement.

If you take the words in the context of when they were written they are actually very clever. They are purposed to tie the Hanoverian Regime into the then popular legends of Britain's founding and it is worth noting these legends pre-date the founding of England let alone the United Kingdom. The repeated reference to Britannia ruling the waves is an allusion to the Sovereignty of the Seas claim that had been made at various times by British monarchs and unsuccessfully enforced by the Stuarts, the new lot wanted to make it clear that this time the job would be done right. The tyrants reference is in fact a neat and politic capitulation to the Sovereignty of Parliament a key constitutional idea that the Stuarts had struggled with. The last verses simply reflect the spirit of the age and remind people that under the current order the economy is expanding by leaps and bounds, free thought and fresh ideas are tolerated and isn't life good (Oh and loads better than under those papist Stuarts)?

So the words are far from nonsense, propaganda yes but sensible if you understand the original context. :)

Again I think I need to find some shady branches
