As for Dorothy's choices in time travel - I guess only one of those choices would be feasible. Unless the time machine had a fail-safe to whip (good word that) you back to the present before things got too "hot".

Well i would insist on disabling the fail safe. no good going to those places
if i can`t sample their torture and executions, someone might even give
