I like this one too. I believe this was after the local ministry of crux got a hefty fine by the clean beaches folk and made it so all cruxing must be done below the high tide line on the beaches so that the bodies are cleaned and taken away by the sharks. This of course was beneficial to the local beach goers and the sharks were happily fed by the time they went swimming.

Don't want to interrupt, but there was a reference to František Drtikol, and on the "great pictures" theme, it seemed like an idea to look at some of his work (some more crux related than others, I suppose). Drtikol started his own studio in 1907 in Prague and was active through the mid-20th century. He died in 1961.
Just had a sort of wistful thought that all the lovely models in those photos would likely be very elderly women now, if in fact not already dead. Hopefully they survived two World Wars. Their youthful beauty is frozen for all time in these photos, which a lot of people would not have had the opportunity to get back in the early years of the 20th century. Photography would have been a much bigger deal. We are fortunate to have Drtikol's work survive.

The excitment of the photographs comes not only from the nudity, but also from the 'darkness' and shadows, and because of at least the suggestion of real peril that is created..
I do love Esday and his little cat!

That's so true, no fun to crucify in winter, hypothermia will kill too quick and where's the fun in that?

Just to add to the festivities over number six, and the general sense of well being that her gluteal regions engender in all bar the unlucky lady, I do find it entertaining when the spikes have been driven clean through the wood! I don't know why, but most of you already know that I have a screw loose...
