Uplifting Thoughts for the Isolated and Depressed in Times of Plague

They say Tonto never told him what “kemosabey” really meant :couch:
I am sorry to correct you, Barbara, but the disrespectful translations of Kemo Sabee are simply incorrect urban legends. The word is ultimately derived from gimoozaabi, an Ojibwe and Potawatomi word that may mean "he/she looks out in secret." The translation of the word was stated in the first TV episode as "trusty scout."

One should also correct a misunderstanding of the name of the Lone Ranger's faithful Indian sidekick, Tonto. While it is true that in Italian, Spanish and Portuguese, the name means "stupid one," However, the creator of the character grew up in Michigan and was familiar with members of the Potawatomi language group (see above) who told him the word meant "wild one." That was the meaning he intended in the series. It was only later, when it was too late to change what was then an iconic name, that he learned of the meaning in Romance languages.

You’re no fun. Spoilsport! :rolleyes:

Another Italian beauty contest!

I want the job of the guy who pastes the numbers on!

Castelgomberto seems a lovely little Italian town.1615076403853.png

It is definitely on my list of places to visit in Italy. Much more interesting than high-culture places like Florence. Besides, I've been to Florence (SC).

Here is something to uplift you, ... Summer is coming!!

I've had computer problems-----failed hard drive---- so treated myself to a new rig with a bigger, better monitor.
This vid displays SO much better than my old one, well worth the toil and trouble of the set-up!
So all I have to do is find the time to view all the other lovely ladies........

Not that many did so, but if you stop the video one of the choices that comes up is the end of the 1982 Monaco Grand Prix Auto Race. It is fun to watch (though not very sexy :p)
Actually, Tree, those choices are generated by the computer user's youtube history. Therefore what you see come up is not what others will see. However, it was a great ending:

Go ahead, @Barbaria1, tell us how boring F1 racing is!

A song of uplift and praise - Psalm 19:

The heavens declare the glory of God;
the sky displays his handiwork.
Day after day it speaks out;
night after night it reveals his greatness.
There is no actual speech or word,
nor is its voice literally heard.
Yet its voice echoes throughout the earth;
its words carry to the distant horizon.
In the sky, he has pitched a tent for the sun.
Like a bridegroom it emerges from its chamber;
like a strong man, it enjoys running its course.
It emerges from the distant horizon
and goes from one end of the sky to the other;
nothing can escape its heat.
The law of the Lord is perfect
and preserves one’s life.
The rules set down by the Lord are reliable
and impart wisdom to the inexperienced.
The Lord’s precepts are fair
and make one joyful.
The Lord’s commands are pure
and give insight for life.
The commands to fear the Lord are right
and endure forever.
The judgments given by the Lord are trustworthy
and absolutely just.
They are of greater value than gold,
than even a great amount of pure gold;
they bring greater delight than honey,
than even the sweetest honey from a honeycomb.
Yes, your servant finds moral guidance there;
those who obey them receive a rich reward.
Who can know all his errors?
Please do not punish me for sins I am unaware of.
Moreover, keep me from committing flagrant sins;
do not allow such sins to control me.
Then I will be blameless,
and innocent of blatant rebellion.
May my words and my thoughts
be acceptable in your sight,
O Lord, my sheltering rock and my redeemer.

Pachelbel's Canon in D has almost certainly been posted here before. This just happens to be the version I've been listening to for the last couple of hours.
