How To Talk For Artists And Users (Rendering)

As far as the streets of ancient Rome, Stonemason's "Streets of the Mediterranean" model is what I used for Sabina's whipping scenes and part of her walk to the place of execution. It is very detailed, lots of Roman-looking buildings and great textures I captured and used in other places. You just have to make anything like streetlights and other 20th century paraphernalia invisible to get a pretty good effect with it. It's not cheap, unfortunately, $39.95 at DAZ3D.com. Here's a link to it: https://www.daz3d.com/streets-of-the-mediterranean
I couldn't find that one on my, ahem... "usual source", but I'm sure it's out there somewhere ;)

There's not much Daz3D content that you can't get for free if you're prepared to do the virtual legwork...
Not that I would ever condone such foul behaviour of course - just keeping it real, as they say ;)

If anything is "out there," it ought to be. I was using it in 2011. No idea what I paid for it back then, but probably not $39.95! It really is a remarkable model, detail everywhere. The doors and shutters on the windows open and close. I used it for this scene where Salonina meets Ajax at the door to his workshop, a converted brothel.

Salonina-Ajax Scene 1-81_0001.jpg

It's the same doorway as the one with the dark blue doors in the background of this whipping scene:

Sabina Whipping Scene 16-41_0010.jpg

I replaced those doors with a pair of the shutters from the windows somewhere else on the model, scaled them up to fit, created a new texture to make them look different. I changed the brick texture on the walls to plaster and added the Latin graffiti from Pompeii. And presto, changed it into a different place in Rome.

I also used some of the broken plaster texture and brick texture from various places in the model to create the walls of Sabina's prison cell:

Couldn't resist that last picture with Sabina's righteous ass. The fresco is from a brothel in Pompeii. This cell was supposed to be one of the rooms in this converted brothel of Balbus'. So I did get a lot of use out of Stonemason's model.

yes I also run as administrator daz3d ....

and the biggest fun was when I found out today that all the renders were done to me only through cpu ... ha!

I reinstalled the graphics drivers here and the whole of daz3d and that's it! it already works as it should!

now I'm trying to create that scene for the video ... it's hard!
Great that you got it working!!!

I think I could make a pretty good Appian Way set using the Terradome model I use now for the Sessorium where Sabina is crucified. All I would need is a decent tileable texture for the road. Mine would be in Poser of course, but you could surely do something similar for DAZ.

Hi, if you want a road, you can do this: use this model: https://www.daz3d.com/bend-of-the-river
Then you apply a stone (tilable) texture to the actual river itself. I did this myself and it works :) See attachments. That's how I created the road in these pics :) RomanCruxScene001Cam05BW.jpgRomanCruxScene036Cam08BW.jpg

Yep, my pictures from a yet unpublished set :) So... For the gate. That would be this set: https://www.daz3d.com/fantasy-castle-surround-2-iray
There might be a better set out there to get you a gate:
(I did not try this one yet, though...)
But, then I also used buildings from these collections (in the background.

I have never edited the IK chains for a figure, but it looks like there are some tools to do this in DAZ Studio 4.12 and above. This post might shed some light on it: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/357776/ik-chains-explained

I would play around with that on a new figure, empty scene to see if I could figure out how things work. Some of these posts say that DAZ hasn't documented how to do this but maybe they are out of date.
Thanks Jedakk!
I did not a find a way to edit an IK Chain in Daz Studio 4.12+ (probably not possible) but you can add a new one and this open a lot of possibility like having a prop
or another figure pull or push a character.
Like here:
But did not find a use to pin a limb yet:still playing around with this!

the more I look at those tutorials the more fascinated I am!

awesome! Thanks!

And yes I have a strong pc, but the problem is probably right in daz3d ... I just can't do a complete render of a bigger scene with a background and at least two characters, Every time daz3d fails ... And it annoys me! I've tried various settings, etc., and nothing works ... Either the error either during the render, or daz3d shuts down completely and it sucks! Any one?

Sorry if I ask again: are your video card drivers up to date? If they are not you can download them directly from Nvidia Official Drivers page.

Once your drivers are updated, I suggest you to use GPU-Z to test your hardware. It works, and I speak from experience, having had two cards failing me exactly the same way as you describe, and GPU-Z helped me to find the problem.

yes I've tried it before ... and yes (I'm an idiot, I didn't look at the drivers) and I found out that my render only goes via cpu!

I see! so here I reinstalled daz3d and all the drivers (daz3d we updated to at 4.20 and vola it already works!

but it is logical that when I render in 4K with all the details, I just can't get more than 6 completely detailed characters into a complete bacground scene ...

because the pc is so hot that I can bake a cake on it ...

I had that problem bad with my previous computer. When I built the one I have now, which is already old, I put in a liquid cooler. No more excess heat!
