I was thinking : even the most brilliant surgeon sometimes makes a mistake. She projects hers on a dark alter ego of herself (which she can blame for the mishaps, instead of getting haunted herself by them).

Well resurrection of the thread also brought it to my attention and for the first time I had a look. I’d always figured this thread was about apocryphal Iron Maidens! Lol, so thanks to @malins and @tygavin, and of course @Wragg for creating such an interesting thread several years ago!
