DeviantArt is different....

Chinadoll mentioned pixiv.
Yeah I’m on pixiv too lol, I’m everywhere it seems  It’s very japanese.. but seems quite permissive about erotic images. The design is horrible, it makes me nauseous just looking at it.. but it offers you a gallery, “likes” and comments, and a message system. I’ve used it mainly to communicate with friends who got kicked off DA and haven’t found their way to cruxforums (yet!):D

You carriying always a wrong mask.

I signed up at bdsmlr once and the only thing I saw was an endless thread of porn gifs.
I certainly do not object to that, not at all, but I don't like if it is pushed on me as soon as I enter a site (and there are matters of taste naturally, another thing I hate with ecplise where I can't escape these 'recommendations' that for the most part I find terrible).
Never found out how to find or search anything there, so I never gave it a second look.

Well, time to check out pixiv ...

bdsmlr is a straight-up porn site. It is not really somewhere for artists to post their work, though @montycrusto does. Searching on bdsmlr is entirely dependent on whether uploaders have tagged their work. Most don't. There is no community there. pixiv is much better suited to your work. You might find, actually, that you get more views there, though not the interactions that you get on DA.

**Edited to add, the system didn't tell me that Monty had already posted almost exactly the same as I just said.

I kind of saw it coming. First they asked me for model releases from the people depicted in my manips, claiming that someone had complained about the unauthorized use of their likeliness. The pieces they picked on happened to include a couple where the main figures were fellow Deviants who had encouraged me to use their images, so I could only assume that it was a member of the supporting cast who had complained. And the supporting cast in these cases, incidentally, consisted of a group of ISIS Jihadists and a bunch of black bears.

Then, of course, the Great Purge began, and almost every day I saw another artist I had been watching and talking to regularly getting a line of death stricken through their ID, sometimes more than one a day. And yes, they started with those who specialize in hanging and cannibalism, and now they have moved on to Crux artists, like @bobinder, @algabal and @Madiosi. Since my pix covered all of these subfields, I'm actually slightly surprised that they waited this long.

Well, I guess I might be spending more time here from now on. Past experienced has shown that I can keep up with one social medium in any given period of time, and Twitter definitely ain't it for me.

By the way, dA also sent me about 30 notices that some of my pieces had been deleted for policy violations...I mean, why would they even bother at that point? Or are they planning to send me 380 more notices about deleting the rest of them?
Hi Shiva! I'm MoRtEn5 form DA. Pity that they banned you, and glad to see you here.
Here's link of my thread, with pics and cut outs, if you like them for your artworks.

I spent some time over at FetLife. They seem like a really nice group, but it was really hard to follow or find things.

Maybe I'll have to update and try again. May have to try pixiv. I've been avoiding it.

Honestly, if this place had a gallery, it would be perfect. One stop shop, and the best community.

I guess I smartened up :) I contacted FetLife about joining their site and asked them for permission, outlining the exact nature of my posts... And they replied I am most welcome there... :) Should have done that on DA some three years back... :)

You’ve always been a good friend on DeviantArt Bob and I hope you don’t mind me saying the site is much the worse without you. Same goes for @MahaShiva .

No problem. Sorry that happened.

Thank you very much for everything, guys! It's certainly good to have a community of our own. Well, it wasn't bad on dA either while it lasted, but of course, over there we were pretty much always hiding in the back alleys.

The back alleys are where most of the fun stuff happens.

One question I don't think has been asked here - are/were any of the people banned from DA 'premium' (paid-up) members? There's been messages (and other not so subtle hints) encouraging us to upgrade, some artists' work can now only be seen by premium members, and such artists are apparently given access to channels for promoting their work for sale. My impression is that the new management are pushing DA in that direction, making it into a sort of virtual gallery where artists exhibit work for sale - but have to pay for the privilege. That doesn't directly explain the arbitrary expulsions, though it would go along with some such attempt to make the site more 'up-market'?
