sad to see Kieara's suffering end. Innocent or not, she indeed put on a good show and was worthy of the cross. But, all good things must come to an end.

Valeria felt powerless, if only Kieara had just a little more time, just a little, she would have had a chance to save her.
The grief had to take a pause, as Valeria heard two laughing guys getting closer. She didn't want to take risks, it was enough guilt to have abandoned Kieara in her last days, wasting her death wish would only make things worse.
As Valeria left, the two guys, a pair of guards, were yawning as they approached their victim.
- "Hey, she's still there".
- "Of course she's still there... at least her body".
They began to look around for any signs of life.
- "...You know, for such a small and weak body, this slave lasted longer than I expected. Can we-?".
- "No, we have to report her death, leave her like that for another day, maybe two, depends on the mood of the governor".
Valeria turned around. She heard from a distance the guards contemplating their work, not sure of their intentions.
After some minutes of discussion, the guards left to inform of the death of the "empress".

One of the guards though that maybe they should check one last time, so he took a spear and stabbed the side of Kieara's body.
"...she is dead"
"You just wanted to do that for the sake of doing it, right?"
"Hey, deal with two things at once, we check if she's still alive, and I can stab her".
The two guards, arguing and messing around the job of a guard and how much could they mess with their victims, finally went to inform what they saw.
The day went by, it got cloudy. Maybe the sky was lamenting the death of an innocent woman?
Around noon, three figures went to check the site of execution.
"Thanks for letting me come with you. It's nice when people get what they deserve".
Diana came with them to delight in the results of her twisted plan.
"We will keep her to dissuade any other rebels or traitors, but, can we-"
"The governor told me you guys can do whatever you want, as long as she is still up there".

Kieara's body was gone, the cross was empty.
Diana was shocked, confused, angry. Where was the woman that would display her power? How? Who in the world was left that cared about Kieara?
The rain began, somewhere far from there, Valeria rested with her friend on the floor.
Valeria revealed her head, and could only lament that she was probably the only one who could have saved her, and she abandoned her.
Very carefully, Valeria took off the crown of thorns.
She could only remember those small moments of happiness Kieara brought her, even during their time as slaves.
A promise was made, but... could she fulfill it?
