Having a conversation with @chinadoll always is inspiring and sometimes can lead to quite a challenge.
This time it ended up in a little étude of 10 pictures.
After all it is always about style
Zungur: “Alazar, that’s perfect craftsmanship. I wish I could draw like this, but if I could I never would. It is all so1960’s looking. All American taste, which is rather different from mine, all the women look tough, hard and experienced. Nothing soft or cute here.”
Chiara: “These ropes are definitely not soft!”
China Doll: “You may be right, but have a look at Crepax if you want European.”
Zungur: “I looked with awe at Crepax before you were born. He certainly is the unchallenged master of pure black and white. But still, this ink only/hard contrast/no shading stuff always left me somehow unsatisfied.”
Chiara: “Please, no stupid ‘shades of grey’ pun now!
I was influenced by the Franco-Belgian school from early on.”
China Doll: “Franco-Belgian was ‘Asterix’ for me, back then.”
Chiara: “Oh no! Be careful what you’re saying, when Zungi is listening!”
Zungur: “Then there are those European art professors with their ‘Rubens’ taste. I know Pichard is an icon in the BDSM scene but, sorry, I just don’t like how he’s drawing girls.”
Chiara: “Did I have an accident with a Mascara-transporter?!? And whiskers are not at all an improvement on you!”
Zungur: “This is actually how I thought I would like my drawings to look like. But the more I think about it, the more I try out, the less I can decide what I want.”
