There is a lot of work that goes into crucifying a large group of women. And state law requires that their bodies must be buried within five days after the women are crucified (there is no requirement that the convicts must be dead). In the ‘potter’s field’ at the base of The Hill of 100 Crosses™ inmates from the reparation farm toil at digging the grave where the condemned women’s bodies will be buried in mass. You see, not all inmates went along with the escape. Some didn’t believe it would work and didn’t want to be hanged for attempting the break-out.
Others only had a short time left of their sentence and didn’t want to face the consequences of being caught if they did get out.
The inmates labor to dig the grave the condemned escaped inmates will be buried.
One of the inmates sighs “I can’t believe we are digging the grave our sister inmates will be buried in.”
Another inmate snaps back “Yes, but if we don’t get this done don’t think they won’t add a cross for each of us!”
“I know but it is eerie standing in the pit women I knew will be buried here” she replies.
While the inmates toil digging the grave, condemned inmates are being prepared to march to their crucifixion. This young woman is resigned to the fact her life is all but over.
She doesn’t resist as her wrists are cuffed behind her back. She even asks if the guard has ever seen a crucifixion. He replies he has not but adds almost enthusiastically that he will come up the hill to see her crucified. She is not sure if it was a compliment or just lust. But time is short. He leads her from her cell to be taken to the hill to be crucified.
Don’t worry… she won’t be wearing the glasses when she is crucified.
Some of the condemned women are less compliant. This little wench declares she is not about to carry even one spike to be crucified.
The guard laughs at her and says “You do what you are told or we will drag your sister to the reparation farm to finish your sentence after you are dead!”
