Especially when they keep using them up. Can they use robots? Reincarnation? Time travel (go back to the day before repeatedly, as in Bill Murray's "Groundhog Day")? Recycling is always a good thing.

We never actually see the fate of the sacrificed young woman, but we can all make our own guesses as to what might have happened, based on her expressions (which are excellent).
At first she does not seem to be worried, which leads me to a thought I have often had:-
In societies where human sacrifice was practiced, was the victim necessarily unwilling? Could it have been seen as a noble duty, to give one's life for the greater good?

I like this view better, I can admire the beauty of the sacrifice, and a sacrifice must be beautiful to please the gods.

Seems a bit OTT to strip the skin away, those old Aztecs just took the heart to offer to Quetzalcoatl (or whatever his name was).
