Well... i have been fantasizing for a while about being sentenced, stripped and tied here:

...then taken outside through these tunnels:

...to be publicly scourged here (some kind of frame or post would be needed, or just soldiers holding me down) in the middle of a jeering multitude:

...then forced to carry the patibulum along this aptly-named
Camino del Calvario, meaning something like Calvary Rd, humiliated and taunted by everybody:

...to be crucified somewhere in these hillsides, and left there (with open gates so everyone can come and enjoy, of course):

...because this is the
real Carthaginian, later Roman cemetery here (this is the only Carthaginian city in the world that wasn't conquered, it was very slowly Romanized, so you could think that some, uh, customs and traditions were
multiculturalized, and after all, the Romans didn't do the crucifixion thing until after the Punic Wars)...

...and, of course most of these places have changed a lot in these... uh.. over 2.6 millennia of History, but it
could have happened and it could have happened
exactly in these places even if some of them were quite different, so they have captured my imagination for ages.
i have another, cozier place around 10-15 km from this one that is also multi-millennium historical for a, let's say, more intimate "neighborhood party, bypassers welcome" between groves and the beach, as Mediterranean as the Romans and Carthaginians themselves, but it's
a bit too close to my home (and a bit too personal too) so i don't feel comfy sharing it in
teh interwebs.
