"Not good enough."? You must be joking, Sir! It is great! There were some speculations and questions regarding 'Roadside Crucifixion I'. Well, here it is. It was simply my first attempt, which I discarded because I don't find it good enough. But judge for yourself.
I remember this picture. I loved it so much and now I found that it's gone from DA. Thanks for posting it here, Sir.This is a pic from the time when I began to publish my work. I like to believe that I have improved myself since. The pic was removed by DA. After it was online for more than a year, they all of a sudden found it no longer suitable.
One of the main difference between 1 and 2 is the background and the ground fog in 2, it completely change the imagery. There were some speculations and questions regarding 'Roadside Crucifixion I'. great pic! lots of action going on!On the website of the ‘BIBLICAL ARCHAEOLOGY SOCIETY’ I found an article, suggesting that Titus, to crush the Jewish rebellion, crucified 500 Jews per day, outside Jerusalem, over a period of several month. Assuming that ‘several’ means at least three, I find this story hard to believe. With an estimated population of 20000 to 50000 at the time, the entire city population would have been wiped out.
Anyway: here’s my idea how it may have looked like.
BTW: I think it was mp5stab 'complained'that I don't post enough. I try to make it up to him by posting a larger pic with several cruxes at once.
Uuups! Unfortunately I had to upload the pic in a lower quality. The original version was rejected because it is too large. Hope, you'll still enjoy it!
It's a crux classic - seriously, I think you should let us keep your crucifixion scenes in our Archive - it's good to see how your treatment of the topic has developed, all three that you've shown here are superb, though I agree the latest is the greatest - are there, or can we hope for, more? This is a pic from the time when I began to publish my work. Yeah @Eulalia, what you said. It's a crux classic - seriously, I think you should let us keep your crucifixion scenes in our Archive - it's good to see how your treatment of the topic has developed, all three that you've shown here are superb, though I agree the latest is the greatest - are there, or can we hope for, more?
A major difference between 1 and 2 is, that on #1, the crucified show no whipping welts. One of the main difference between 1 and 2 is the background and the ground fog in 2, it completely change the imagery.
It's interesting to compare the 2, thanks for posting!
Incredible work! Thank you for posting it. I spent some time savoring it, and this girl about halfway down the line stands out to me, not only for the contrast with the smiling legionary in the foreground:There were some speculations and questions regarding 'Roadside Crucifixion I'. Good picture, and Tree appreciates the crucified guy (realistically) does not have a hard-on...
I hope you like this little experiment, for which I used a painting from Fjodor Andrejewitsch Bronnikow as inspiration.
Unfortunately, this will be my last crux work for some time. I need to get backto the topics, which are a bit more closer to my heart.
Another great scene - it's better to have created a small number of classics than simply repeating the same theme again and again, but sooner or later you'll surely be drawn back to Golgotha, and in the meantime we'll enjoy whatever else you care to share. Here is one more crucifixion pic I like to share!
It's a spin-off from a commission work I'm doing right now. I used it to setup the scenery and the environment. After adding some older figures and polishing them up a little, I suddenly had a complete picture.
To avoid the same objections like with my last work, about the missing source of wood, I added some cedar trees this time.

Well, these have been really very much appreciated. Thank you, @3DFranco !Unfortunately, this will be my last crux work for some time.
Thank you again for posting another great work. I do hope you return to Golgotha in the not too distant future. Here is one more crucifixion pic I like to share!

So I guess “safe-spaces” were also a thing in Roman times because that pic is clearly of the female-only area, or possibly a special Womens Crucifixion Day?On the website of the ‘BIBLICAL ARCHAEOLOGY SOCIETY’ I found an article, suggesting that Titus, to crush the Jewish rebellion, crucified 500 Jews per day, outside Jerusalem, over a period of several month.
