DeviantArt is different....

are/were any of the people banned from DA 'premium' (paid-up) members?
Yes quite a few were. Whether they would be legally entitled to any kind of refund on their core membership fee, I’ve no idea.
(“Premium” content is something else, nothing to do with “core” membership... except inasmuch as they’re both desperate attempts at monetisation)

Oh yeah, I guess premium is the stuff where the thumbnails are blurred out and you're supposed to pay to even see the preview?
That's not how one normally monetizes media ... you've got to give people enough preview content to get them hooked ...

Yup. That's the one.

Ah I see - I was a bit baffled by the 'premium' and 'core' business. There's probably some small print that allows them to kick out premium members after they've relieved them of their cash. Have any of the expellees been 'core'?

Yes, lots of them :( (deviantart really doesn’t know who its friends are)
Since eclipse I would just say: they don't give a shit.
In an interview one of their emplyees said that they applied lots of changes over the years and that there always was an outrage.
This obviously never made them think about *not* applying these changes, but just ensured them that it just doesn't matter.
As I said before: its a platform, you are not customers, you are the merchandize.
And which butcher would care about the piggies opinion about the display in his shop?

I was a core member. The membership was even gifted to me... Go figure... I hope they reimburse the one that gifted it. I pointed that out in my appeal. As of yet, no reaction to that appeal.

I've just lost a supplier of Excellent crucifixion pictures. His name was Maicoldraw...remember him??
Gone completely :( :(

I saw this issue is hot in dolcettfetish forum too although i used to go there to see stories only. But so far i know in that issue is - they are trying to delete anything include non-consensual sex or abuse issue. Same on patron site recently.
Actualy one of my favorite deviants "cenart" is still posting violent pics and ok. But i still remember his beastility pic was banned and account locked for a while a year ago. The issues seem like if pics are reported and due tags. Normally it should be fine even in a social site like Twitter. One of my japanese friend who used to post mass of his own crux photo shoots got warning only after he has been reported. But currently he can still share his new close group with knowing peopls.
Anyway, I feel sad and bad what deviaint did to most of my friends there.

I kind of saw it coming. First they asked me for model releases from the people depicted in my manips, claiming that someone had complained about the unauthorized use of their likeliness. The pieces they picked on happened to include a couple where the main figures were fellow Deviants who had encouraged me to use their images, so I could only assume that it was a member of the supporting cast who had complained. And the supporting cast in these cases, incidentally, consisted of a group of ISIS Jihadists and a bunch of black bears.

Then, of course, the Great Purge began, and almost every day I saw another artist I had been watching and talking to regularly getting a line of death stricken through their ID, sometimes more than one a day. And yes, they started with those who specialize in hanging and cannibalism, and now they have moved on to Crux artists, like @bobinder, @algabal and @Madiosi. Since my pix covered all of these subfields, I'm actually slightly surprised that they waited this long.

Well, I guess I might be spending more time here from now on. Past experienced has shown that I can keep up with one social medium in any given period of time, and Twitter definitely ain't it for me.

By the way, dA also sent me about 30 notices that some of my pieces had been deleted for policy violations...I mean, why would they even bother at that point? Or are they planning to send me 380 more notices about deleting the rest of them?
I really sorry to heard it ..i dont know when my turn will come too.
You and cenart are two in my fav lists in there. :(

I haven't been banned from DA yet. I write stuff which is quite a low profile thing to do so unless I attract some sanctimonious, self righteous attention I'll probably get away with it longer. Pornwriter was banned, having been on DA for a hundred years so I don't feel safe. I spent all night backing everything up and downloading my faves just in case the axe falls.

We have to remember DA is a business and any kinky altruism which inspired its creation is long gone now. Now it turns over a mighty wedge it's become a business opportunity, investors for the use of, and I'm sure someone has calculated that the new business we frightened off by offending it is worth a lot more than we are, so in business terms, we have to go. DA is not for us, it's for DA and artists on it are a business resource. Yes it was beautiful, yes the community we enjoyed was a heady thrill and yes I'm still hanging on to the hope there'll be enough of it left when the purge ends.

Has anyone tried VK.com? Being Russian I'm sure they're anarchic enough to accommodate us. You can translate it from Russian but they want your mobile number to create an account. I'm a bit scared of giving my phone number to Russians! If you've ever tried a Chinese website and been directed to the Chinese authorities you'll know why I'm an internet surfing wimp.

By the way, just because I was fascinated by it. In Beijing there are mobile phone charging posts in the street with loads of USB ports. They charge up a phone in minutes but what else do they do? At each one, at any time of day there's a throng of Chinese kids all plugging their phones into them. Are they uploading their whole lives onto some tricky government secret service server?

Thank you, Yupar! I think you might be OK on dA. Looks like if you don't post very often, chances are relatively low that you'd be reported by the trolls, and then they won't bother you.

Wait...on second thought, I don't think Algabal had been posting much on dA lately...

I wrote the text for a CGI comic strip which was published on the artist's website. It wasn't kinky, just sexy stories, loads of naked bodies and rampant genitalia. My man was from the Islamic Republic of Somewhereorother and told me that in his country, watching porn never mind creating it, was a capitol offence.
