The new translation has caused considerable controversy in the Catholic Church for precisely these reasons. I am an Anglican liturgist and would entirely agree that a sense of style in the writing has been sacrificed at the altar of theological correctness. It has sadly upset many.Yes, I've Catholic friends who feel the same about it.
It's rumoured that the English draft for the revision was messed about with by Propaganda Fidei,
whose command of English style doesn't match their theological correctness
And indeed, that's the ablative (= instrumental, in the context)
and in my country much more......complete generations stopped attending the services. The new translation has caused considerable controversy in the Catholic Church for precisely these reasons.
